North East Championship Demolition Derby Presented by Woodbooger Demolition Derby 3 County Fair Grounds 41 Fair St. Northampton, MA October 3, 2009 2:00 PM Print & Mail Derby Entry Form The rules and regulations for this event have been set for the following reasons: - To allow the rookie or novice demo driver have as much chance to win as the experienced driver.
- To make this fun sport affordable to everyone. The rules are also set to save on expensive parts, set up time and miles of welding wire.
- By following these rules at the end of the derby most of these cars will be ruined.
This event is to find the best Demolition Derby Driver in the North East. This is not a competition to see who can build the toughest car. This is a stock derby unless it is listed in our rules; otherwise the answer is no you can’t do it. Please read the rules carefully due to changes. Derby Pit Gate opens at 10:00 AM. 6-8 CYLINDER CARS This Derby will consist of heats of 6-8 cylinder cars. All heat races will qualify 4 drivers for the feature. The last 3 cars moving and running will receive a trophy. The fourth place car will be the “Lucky Dog” and be eligible to compete in the feature. This is subject to change the day of the event. All feature cars will be quarantined until the last car in the last heat is removed from the track. This way every driver has the same amount of time to work on his or her feature car. One entry per driver. You must use the same car that you qualify with. Entry fee $150.00 includes 2 pit passes. Prize money for 6-8 cylinder feature is as follows: First Place: Trophy and $5,000.00 Second Place: Trophy and $2,000.00 Third Place: Trophy and $1,000.00 Please note these vehicles will be re-inspected after the derby. 4 CYLINDER CARS The 4 cylinder race will take place after the 6-8 cylinder heats. Entry fee $75.00 includes 2 pit passes. Prize money for the 4 cylinder event is as follows: First Place: Trophy and $1,250.00 Second Place: Trophy and $500.00 Third Place: Trophy and $250.00 North East Championship Demolition Derby SAFETY RULES - You must have a full face helmet, DOT approved.
- You must have a working seatbelt.
- You must wear long pants, no shorts.
- Driver door must be painted FLOURESCENT GREEN.
- Each vehicle must have a fire extinguisher located in the padding of the front passenger seat.
DRIVING RULES - You must make contact every 60 seconds. You must give not receive.
- Do not hit the drivers’ door. If you see green do not hit it.
- Excessive smoking will be disqualified.
- Sandbaggers will be disqualified.
- Red Flag means stop, someone is hurt or there is a fire. Pay attention.
- The last car to make a hit will be deemed the winner. Officials’ decision is final.
CAR PREPARATION - Absolutely no welding is allowed anywhere on your car, unless otherwise noted below, no matter how small. You will be sent home.
- Any passenger car, EXCEPT for Chrysler Imperials. Pre-derbied cars are acceptable as long as they are not re-enforced or welded.
- Remove all glass including the windshield. Doors must be clean and free of glass.
- Remove all lights and molding or anything that can be knocked loose onto the track.
- Engines, transmissions and rear ends must be the same make as the car.
- Fuel tank may be moved inside of the car, forward of the rear wheels and behind the front seat. Fuel tank must be marine type plastic or metal, six (6) gallon maximum. Fuel tank must be secure and deemed safe by the inspectors. You must cover the fuel tank.
- Battery may be moved to passenger side front floor and must be covered with a rubber mat.
- All anti-freeze must be removed, water only in radiator.
- Rear differential may be locked or welded for posi-traction.
- Drivers’ door (only) may be welded with a maximum 12 inches on each seam (fender, backside and bottom). You may install a maximum 3 inch pipe or tube behind the driver seat from side to side for safety reasons only. Maximum 6 inch square plates at each end, this may be welded in.
- Remaining doors must be open for inspection and may be chained or wired shut after inspection.
- Hood and trunk may be chained or wired shut in four places only after inspection. Wire must be #9 gauge maximum, two (2) strands per hole. Hood and trunk may be wired or chained around through bumpers in two (2) of these holes.
- Motor mounts and transmission mounts may be wired, chained or welded.
- Any tire. No double tires. Air filled tires only.
- No cutting of bumpers. NO CUTTING OF BUMPERS.
- Fender wells may be cut for clearance; however, they may not be welded, rolled or re-attachedfor strength.
- Shifting linkage may be hooked up direct to the transmission. Shifter handle must besafe.
- All transmission lines must be disconnected from the radiator to prevent oil spills. A transmission cooler may be installed under the hood or the lines mustbe looped.
- Electrical system hot wires may beinstalled.
- Air cleaner must bein place.
- There must be must be (2) 6” X 6” openings in the hood. One on either side for fire department access.
- Exhaust may be exited through the hood.
- All body mounts must be original and cannot be repaired or altered in anyway.
- No pre-bending, as we have learned pre-bending can make a car stronger. You may still cut or notch your frame or unibody.
